In our lesson of bias, we were shown two videos of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, in which he was putting facts of Ebola while playing it with some jokes about it and the procedures being done in the United States to prevent it. We were also shown the case of Kaci Hickox, a nurse who was working in an Ebola infected area. She came to the United States and showed a feverish result on a head scanner test, afterwards she had an oral fever test done and she was okay. Although she has no other symptoms of Ebola, she finds the forced upon quarantine to be dramatic. With that being said, we were shown an article which was against the quarantine to show how bias can be done in texts and the media.
We also discussed rhetorical analysis and the Aristotle triangle. We discussed the three points which were Ethos, Pathos, and Logos. Ethos is the credibility to the text you are writing. Pathos is the emotional appeal you set to the text. Lastly, Logos which is the logic and sometimes reason to the text that you wrote.
In my personal life, my week was pretty hectic to a point of exhaustion. I literally had a burn out to the point I could barely think. I had to skip some high school classes on Friday to just let myself calm down. I had an article to finish off which I finished off on Sunday.
It was also the week of Halloween, so as soon as I left my English class, I went to the library with a friend to carve a pumpkin. My sister also started her first job and had her first day at work, so my parents had a hectic schedule with the car. On Friday, my sister and I dressed up as kitties to go to a little Halloween party in the evening.
The weekend was another hectic one, I pretty much had a ton of chores to catch up to. Worst of all, my coffee is being limited. Noooooo......
